Hydra is a next-generation silicon-carbide (SiC) MOSFET rectifier for electrolysers. Compared with traditional IGBT or thyristor rectifiers, it delivers higher efficiency across the entire load range and a faster dynamic response. Lower losses and fewer compensation components mean a smaller footprint and better grid and stack compatibility.

The rectifier sits between the grid and the electrolyser stack. Every percentage point of loss there is paid for in electricity for the life of the plant, and every extra filter or compensation bank adds cost, space and failure points.
Lower energy losses and reduced operating costs through high SiC rectifier efficiency across the full load range.
A modular design avoids single-point failures. If a HyPE module fails, Hydra keeps running at full or reduced power until the module is replaced.
Below 1% THDi, fault ride through (FRT), reactive power for voltage support and weak grid support help projects meet grid codes.
Up to 6 MW in a compact design at 1.7 MW per m², so more electrolyser capacity fits on the same plot.
0 to 1500 Vdc output supports different electrolyser types and future stack upgrades at higher DC voltages without new power electronics.
Individual modules can be set up as multiple outputs, giving independent control of several electrolysers from one system.
Hydra is a liquid-cooled rack system built from 250 kW HyPE (Hydra Power Electronics) modules. Each Hydra unit takes up to 24 modules, delivering up to 6 MW. Multiple Hydra rectifiers can be combined to support stack sizes of up to 24 MW (end of life).

Applications: alkaline, PEM and SOEC (solid oxide) electrolysers.
